ORIGAMI BOOKMAKING:

Understand, for space and composition, how to create unified 2D and 3D compositions that demonstrate an understanding of balance, repetition, rhythm, scale, proportion, unity, harmony, and emphasis (MACF Standard 2.11)
Know how to describe preliminary concepts verbally; to visualize concepts in clear schematic layouts; and to organize and complete projects (MACF Standard 4.5).
Be able to create artwork that employs the use of free form symbolic imagery that demonstrates personal invention, and/or conveys ideas and emotions (MACF Standard 3.6).
Be able to produce work that shows an understanding of the concept of craftsmanship (MACF Standard 4.4)

Objectives:
- Demonstrate an understanding of how and why artists construct books in order to represent an idea or series of ideas in a visual way. Translate poetry or lyrics into a visual format that includes personal interpretations or connections to the words.
- Identify the elements of art and principles of design that can be used to strengthen compositions in both representational and non-objective works of art.
- Analyze the ways in which artists use symbolism and typography in design. Represent poetry and lyrics through symbolism and typography in at least two of the origami book pages.
- Use origami folding techniques to construct a book that contains at least 5 pages, including at least 3 non-objective pages.
